Renaissance Learning hires former Washington, D.C., school superintendent

Renaissance Learning has appointed Franklin Smith to its senior vice president of urban accounts, the Wisconsin Rapids-based educational software company announced this week.

Formerly the superintendent of schools in Washington, D.C., and Dayton, Ohio, Smith also served in similar sales roles at several other educational companies, according to a company news release.

The Wisconsin Rapids-based company currently serves more than 74,000 schools and has seven U.S. locations and subsidiaries in Canada and the United Kingdom.
