WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Weather Service has cancelled a Winter Storm Warning for the entire DC area. A previous blizzard warning was also cancelled as the Blizzard of '09 moved out of the region.

Residents are reminded to spread salt or kitty litter on their sidewalks, walkways and steps during the snow. This should make it easier to shovel the snow after the storm ends.

NWS: Record daily and monthly maximum snowfall records set yesterday at Washington Reagan National Airport for Washington DC.

15.0 inches of snow was officially measured yesterday December 19, 2009 at Reagan National Airport.

This breaks the daily record snowfall for the date. 7.0 inches set back in 1945, as well as breaks the all-time record for any single calendar day snowfall in December for Washington DC. The previous December single calendar daily record was 11.5 inches set on Dec 17, 1932.

A month to date snow total of 16.6 inches has been recorded so far at Washington Reagan National Airport... which breaks the previous record December
